Free Pattern – Double Brim Crochet Dot Beanie

The Double Brim Crochet Dot Beanie is the adult version of the Double Brim Bobble Beanie and it’s here! Adorable, warm and easy to whip up, this is the perfect hat to keep you cozy and stylish all winter long!

After such a positive response to Madi’s adorable bobble beanie, I wanted to make an adult version so the Crochet Dot Beanie was born! I wanted to use a yarn that was a little easier to find (I was struggling to find 3 weight yarn in lots of colors!) so, I decided to go with worsted weight yarn! Hello, easiest yarn to find and you probably have a stash already (don’t we all??) so this is the perfect time to use it!

It took some tweaking from the original but I finally feel like I got it right! I hope you all love it and now you and your kiddo can have matching hats 🙂

I designed this pattern using Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca, but you can substitute any size 4 worsted yarn!

Closing the top of your hat:

First, thread your yarn into your needle. Then, using your tapestry needle, insert yarn tail from back to front of BLO around the top of your hat.

Once you are back to the first stitch, pull tight and then sew any remaining gap closed. Tuck yarn into wrong side of hat then tie off. Leave a tail of yarn if you are planning to add a pom pom!

Attaching a pom pom to your hat

For this hat, I prefer a faux fur pom pom. These usually have a little loop on them to attach to your hat so it’s super easy to attach. Double up your yarn in your tapestry needle and thread it through the loop on the pom pom, then thread through the top of your hat. Turn hat inside out and then tie a knot with your yarn tails. I like to also tie off the end from finishing the top of the hat in with the pom pom thread.
