Getting Christmasy

Happy Friday!  Can you believe Christmas is NEXT WEEK???  How in the world did that happen?  I had so many things pinned that I wanted to get done.  Instead, my tree is half naked and my gifts aren’t even wrapped.  But, hey, (most of) my Christmas cards are in the mail!  You know what I mean?  I know you do.  #reallife

This week, I tried to squeeze in some of those Pinterest activities.  I’ve been pretty excited to do some Christmas activities with Alex because he is getting to the age where he understands a little more and can follow directions (most of the time).

On Tuesday, we made a huge mess had a ton of fun decorating sugar cookies.  I was actually really surprised that he didn’t eat them all while we were decorating.  He did keep asking to “bite” the cookies, but he listened to me when I said we have to frost and sprinkle them first! #parentingwin

Then he got his hands on the sprinkles and couldn’t be controlled!  I took my eyes off of him for 5 seconds and he was so proud of himself for decorating with sprinkles all by himself.  This is probably my favorite picture from the day.  Those chubby toddler hands, sneaking sprinkles.  Makes my heart melt and cleaning up the sprinkles totally worth it (which ended up all over the floor, and in Luna’s belly).

If you’re wondering if Christian got to partake, he sure did!  He was busy hunting sprinkles on the floor with Luna.  This baby.  I can’t even.

And then, I caught him with sprinkles.  He thought it was hilarious.

I’ve learned I can’t make funny faces at Alex to get him to smile because he just makes funny faces back at me.  Look at those professional looking cookies!  He’s got a future in baking.

Yesterday, we spent the day with our good friends.  Alex and his best bud had a ton of fun causing a ruckus together.  We even managed to get some ornaments made to commemorate Christmas 2014!  We paint naked.  And by we, I mean Alex paints naked.  Not me.  This is getting awkward.  At some point, Alex lost his pants and when I asked where they were, he told me “in the oven”.  Not really something I thought I’d ever hear; but they were, in fact, in the oven (the play oven).  His socks on the other hand, lost forever.

Pinterest, oh, Pinterest and your expectations. #nailedit  To be fair, trying to get Christian’s handprint while he jumped in a bouncer was a rookie move, but I don’t know that the results would have been much different otherwise.

I managed to get a few of Alex’s that looked like a snowman family.

I gave up on Christian’s handprint and went the salt dough route.  Much better!  And I even got one of Alex, too!

What are you all doing to get in the Christmas/Holiday spirit?

I love little things like this and handmade ornaments are my favorite!  I’m totally going to be “that mom” with the paper ornaments all over the place when the boys start making them for me.  I won’t be able to get rid of anything, I can feel it.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  We are heading to the aquarium to see Scuba Santa swim with the sharks today!  Woot!
