Crochet Beginner Color Block Berry Stitch Blanket

Whew! I finally dusted off the old crochet hooks and haven’t been able to put them down since!

You know what I think when I look around my house (that is full of blankets)? This place needs more blankets. If you know you know. Handmade blankets are just better!

This beautiful and textured color block blanket is super easy and works up really quickly!

Premier Yarn’s Serentity Chunky is so soft and squishy and warm, you’ll want like, 100 blankets out of this stuff! My kids were taking turns snuggling under it while I was working on it!

Materials

3 Skeins Premier Serenity Chunky Yarn (I used 2 Cloud Dancer and 1 Wine)

Size 7.0 mm (L) hook

Scissors

Stitches Used

Ch – chain

sl st – slip stitch

hdc – half double crochet

berry cluster – (YO, insert your hook, pull up a loop, YO, pull through one loop, YO, insert your hook, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all five loops.)

Pattern

With color A

Ch 100

Row 1: sl st in 2nd chain from hook, *hdc in next st. repeat from * across, ending with a sl st in the last stitch of the row. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2-71: Repeat row 1

Switch to color B

Row 72: sl st, *hdc, sl st. Repeat from * across. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 73: sc in each of the first 3 stitches, *berry cluster in next stitch, sc in next three stitches. Repeat from * across. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 74-76: sl st, *hdc, sl st. Repeat from * across. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 77: sc, *berry cluster, *3 sc, berry cluster, repeat from * across ending with 1 sc in last stitch in the row. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 78-80: sl st, *hdc, sl st. Repeat from * across. Ch 1 and turn.

Repeat rows 73-80 until blanket is at the desired width.

My finished blanket measures 33″ W x 39″ L

Adding Tassels

Wrap yarn around small notebook (or something similar) 20 times. Cut one end. Use 2-3 pieces of yarn for each tassel and attach evenly spaced on each end by pulling looped end though end of row and pulling cut end though the looped end.

And there you have it! You can adjust the length of this blanket by adding more chains in the beginning chain, just be sure to chain an even number! You can adjust the width by adding or subtracting rows.
