Hack it : Thieves Laundry Soap

When people ask me what products I think they should kick to the curb first, laundry detergent is always at the top of my list. Just think about it. We cover our whole bodies (and our babies clothes) in the clothes we wash. The detergent doesn’t just go away, it stays a part of the clothing (and sheets, towels, etc.)

Even the detergents that are supposed to be the gentlest contain some really scary ingredients and are NOT what I want to be putting on my clothes and definitely not on my babies clothes.

According the the EWG, Dreft, (which we are all told to use with our newborns because it is so gentle) is rated an F. An F, people. The first concern listed is a high concern for effects on the development, endocrine and reproductive systems. HELLO. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want anything affecting my newborns development to be of high concern.

Thieves Laundry Soap is actually safe and gentle for your newborn, kids and family (and it actually works which is important because, blowouts). The warning on the back of this bottle states to “drink plenty of water if swallowed”. With all the concerns about babies and kids getting sick or dying from eating commercial laundry pods, this is a HUGE relief to us parents.

Plus, Thieves Laundry Soap comes heavily concentrated. Each 32 oz bottle can be doubled if not tripled. I triple mine and will show you how you can too!

First, grab your Thieves Laundry Soap and two empty 32oz containers. I use these pump bottles (affiliate link) from Amazon but you can use mason jars or whatever!

Divide the soap evenly between your containers and add 1-2 capfuls of Thieves Household Cleaner to each along with 20-30 drops of essential oil of your choice. I like Purification or Lemongrass for their purifying abilities! (Just be sure to use glass bottles or Young Living’s laundry soap bottles if you’re going to use citrus oils!) Fill with water and tip bottle back and forth gently to mix. To use, fill the cap that came with your laundry soap half way and use as directed by your machine.

See in action how simple this is here!
