2015 Goals

Do you set resolutions or goals each year?  How do you make sure you stick to them? I find that every time I make resolutions for the new year, they tend to fizzle out shortly there after.  I really need to have concrete ideas laid out, or I won’t get anything accomplished!  I like to think of my New Year “resolutions” as more of a to-do list 🙂  It helps my mom brain stay on track.  At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

So, without further ado, here are some of my to-do goals for 2015 (in no particular order)!

1) Run a half marathon (maybe 2?):  I have already signed up for the Detroit Half with my sister in October!  I’m a little nervous because I have been struggling with keeping up a consistent workout routine.  I’m hoping now that Christian might be getting on a better sleeping pattern (ha!) so I can better plan my workouts and not be so wiped out every morning.  I really want to get back in to running, I just need to get over the initial totally-hating-every-second-of-it-because-I’m-so-out-of-shape feeling; also called the 2 mile hump (where you are scared to run more than 2 miles in fear of keeling over).  It’s a thing. Good times.

2)Simplify:  This is a pretty broad to-do, but in my mind I have little goals that go along with this.  I am working on decluttering the house, space by space, and being more conscious about what enters the house.  I just really want to spend less time constantly re-organizing spaces because there is too much stuff that we don’t need!  I’m sure I will be keeping you all updated on this one throughout the year.  And if I don’t, give me a kick in the pants because, it means I’ve fizzled out in the simplifying department.

3) Stick to a morning routine: Ugh. Ughhhhhh.  Mornings.  Amiright???  I so used to be a morning person. Then I got pregnant with Alex and I waved a sad goodbye to loving the morning.  Being sick and exhausted can do that to a person.  Then, you get that baby out and your are all like “I’m totally going to get back to life as usual now that this (really adorable) watermelon baby is out of me”.  And your baby is all…

And your baby is right.  He is so right.  I haven’t felt rested in a really, really long time.  But, that doesn’t mean I can’t have an organized, well-oiled morning, right?  Right??  So far, I have been able to get up twice before the kids and the rest of the time, they wake up at 5 or 6 which leaves me not time to get up before them because let’s face it, 4am is too early for this mama.  I won’t be discouraged though!

4) Grow this little blog:  I so love all of you guys for reading about my crazy projects and ideas!  I hope to keep growing and inspiring people to tackle projects they have been itching to do.  I have lots of ideas to help me reach more people and hopefully turn this into a little bit of a business so I can contribute a little more to our family income.  So, if you love reading, tell your friends!

5) Learn to use my Nikon D3000:  This one.  Every time I try to figure out my camera I get sweaty and quit.  I really want to take beautiful photos for you all that are so Pinterest worthy, but I get hives when I take my camera out of auto mode.  It’s a problem.  My sister got me a little tutorial book for Christmas, so I need to take a day and sit down and just figure it out.  I know it will be a game changer.

6) Hang out with my kids more:  They are pretty adorable and growing up so fast.  Hopefully by simplifying and having a better routine, I will feel like I am drowning less in dishes and laundry (ha!!) and have more time to play with trains and trucks!

So those are some of my to-do goals for 2015!  I think this is going to be a great year, don’t you?  What goals or resolutions have you set for yourself?
