Weekend Recap!

Hey guys! I hope you had a fun weekend!  (Yes, I realize it is Wednesday.  How did that happen??)

This past weekend was a pretty busy one for the Reineke Family!  We kicked it off on Friday with the Miami University hockey game, courtesy of John’s work.  It was Alex’s first hockey game!  He wasn’t too sure about all the noise, but he seemed to enjoy himself.  I think he was just secretly excited that he was out way past bedtime!  We were in a box, so Alex had a little room to move around, which was nice!  We only lasted through the first period, but it was great to get out and see some of John’s coworkers.  And, Miami beat Alaska 4-1!  Go Redhawks!

Marathon Update:  Does anybody else feel like Saturdays are getting closer together??  Just me??  I woke up bright (actually not so bright) and early Saturday morning to head out for my first double digit run with Betsy!  Ten miles in 9 degrees and snowing.  About halfway through the run, the left side of my face went a little numb, which was interesting.  Pretty sure it was just because the wind was blowing from that side the entire time.   Anyways, we finished in about 1 hr 55 mins.  I felt like I could have kept going, which is apparently how you should feel post long run, so woot!

Sunday, we actually got up and made it to 9:00 am mass!  We usually end up going to 11:30 or evening mass (perks of living in a college town, high five for evening mass!) and now we know why!  At around 9:40 Alex starting losing his calm, collected way of life.  We sort of overlooked the fact that he naps around 9:45 or 10:00 everyday.  Um…whoops!  Alex and I spent a little time in the foyer of the church listening and singing along through the doors.  Then, after communion, it was John’s turn to step out with him.  Overall, we learned a valuable lesson.  Don’t take a 10 month old to 9:00 mass =]

Side note: Alex is 10 months old today!  How did this happen???  I need to start planning his birthday party!  I will have his 10 month pictures up soon, I know you are all chomping at the bit to see what he’s been up to this month!

After church, we had swim lessons again!  This time it was mama’s turn in the pool with Alex!

Swim 12

We arrived and had just gotten in the kiddie pool, when the lifeguard blew his whistle.  Somebody did a mister pooper in the pool!  I thought swim class was going to be canceled for the day, but the instructors had other ideas!  They said we were going to have lessons in the dive well.  The 18 foot deep dive well.  Yikes!  But the kids all got adorable little life jackets and Alex didn’t complain one bit!

Side Note: I promise we weren’t swimming in the black abyss.  I forgot to take the camera off macro before handing it over to John!  Whoops!

Swim 14

He just floated around the deep end kicking his legs, flapping his arms, and splashing me in the face.

It was a blast!  We even did a little dunking, which Alex wasn’t too mad about =]

We got back from swim lessons and it wasn’t long before Alex was out like a light.  It was a pretty productive nap time for this mama!  I went down in the basement to finish assembling shelves for Alex’s room (that post coming soon!).  I finally got to use my new nail gun from John!  So exciting!

Alex slept for 3 hours after swimming!  Swim lessons everyday please!  Makes me long for spring when we can play outside all day to wear him out =]  We finally had to wake him  up around 5:30, so who knows how long he would’ve slept.  I know you should never wake a sleeping baby, but we had a Super Bowl Party to attend!  It was a blast and there was an epic snackadium.  Alex even got to play with some of his buddies until way way way past his bedtime!  He knows how to party!

He gave me his best “Mom, what the heck are you making now” look, while I was working on some art for my guest bedroom makeover!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
